Uniforms

Why We Wear a Uniform…

The uniform we wear in Tae Kwon Do is called a do-bok. Dobok is the Korean word for uniform. Wearing a martial art uniform helps kids get in the right frame of mind for class. It's also fun to wear a different outfit than what we've worn all day at school or work. The doboks are loose fitting like pajamas, so it makes doing martial arts easier and more comfortable. For our class we wear the V-neck uniform, which is approved by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. The snap of the do-bok allows the instructor and student to know they are performing the skills with the right finesse.

Caring for your Uniform…

Uniforms can be washed and dried according to the directions. Do not machine wash the belt. If needed, only hand wash the belt and drip dry.

The 5 Tenets

The Five Tenets of Tae Kwon Do are:

  • courtesy
  • integrity
  • perseverance
  • self-control
  • and indomitable spirit.

These tenants are woven into the classes and we expect students to know what each of these words mean.
